THE team at Specsavers Redditch are going bright for sight once again this year by sponsoring and taking part in the Go Bright for Sight Colour Run.

The event, in aid of Sight Concern Worcestershire, takes place at Arrow Valley Country Park on September 10.

Beginning the race dressed in white, participants will be pelted with 100 per cent natural brightly coloured paint as they pass ‘paint stations’ en route, finishing the race with a multi-coloured covering.

Visually impaired runners will be supported to take part in the event, by being matched with a sighted guide to navigate the course.

Sarah Wright, from Specsavers, said: “We have some great memories from last year. What the staff really enjoyed was bringing their own children to the event, making it a big family occasion.

"It’s such a fun event, great for team building and suitable for any age or level of fitness, so we just couldn’t wait to be part of it again."

She added: “It’s also raising money for a very important charity in Worcestershire. At Specsavers we know how precious eyesight is and we know what excellent work Sight Concern does in our community."

Fiona Blake, from the charity, said: “This year we’re going to set about painting even more people red, blue, green and purple as they pass through our paint stations.”

“We’re delighted that not only Specsavers Redditch but also Hayward Wright and Modus, are joining us again as paint station sponsors, and we’re thrilled to welcome Southco and Midland Plumbing Supplies who are sponsoring our t-shirts and race arch."

The Go Bright for Sight Colour Run is open to walkers and runners of all ages, and is accessible to all.

Entry fees, which include the paint stations, entertainment and a pair of neon sunglasses, are £13 adults, £7.50 children (age three and under are free), and students £8.50.

A family ticket is £33.
