CUB scouts at Upton-upon-Severn are sharpening their science skills by setting up a series of experiments.

Currently they are constructing wormeries to investigate how the worms improve the health of our soil and help our crops grow.

Pictured here are Harry Jones, Evan Pretty, Joshua Dodd, Thomas Ross and Solomon Unwin with their wormery.

Over the weeks that the experiment runs they will record the worms at work turning the garden waste into compost.

Val Holland, the pack's Akela, said: "We would like to thank all those who have supported our science project especially Jessica’s in Worcester who donated the jars and the parents of Cub Mattias Convert and Bubble House Worm Farm in Bransford for the worms.

"Evan said he enjoyed putting the worms in but they kept trying to get out."
