TWO Malvern brothers will be riding over 160 miles to Devon to raise money for a group dealing with young onset dementia.

Adam and Tom Soley will be undertaking the challenge because their father Nigel Soley was diagnosed with the condition two years ago.

They will be joined for the ride by Tom's girlfriend Jodie Yeomans and friends Jack French, Andy Bride and Chris Williams.

The six will be setting off from Malvern on Thursday, October 16, and arriving at Croyde, on the north Devon coast, the following day, stopping overnight at Burnham-on-Sea.

They will be accompanied by a three-man support crew of Jim Wilson, David McBurney and Josh Loughman, driving a vehicle supplied by Malvern firm RSM.

And Cradley-based Your Name on It has donated custom shirts for the challenge.

Adam Soley said: "Everyone's been really helpful and supportive. We had a quiz night at Barnards Green Cricket Club and it was a great success. Over 70 people came along and we raised close to £450.

"Our target was £800, but we've already exceeded that and raised close to £1,000."

They have also been offered their accommodation in Burnham-on-Sea free, and discounted in Croyde.

The money they raise will go to the young onset dementia group at Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust.

Mr Soley said: "This group has transformed my dad and really built up his confidence, built it up so far that because of the fantastic work they do, they have my dad doing talks with senior doctors, champion nurses and health care personnel who care for and understand those living with early onset dementia.

"I can't cure this, but what I can do is ride a bike, and by doing this hopefully will raise some money and awareness for this charity so they can continue to give the amazing support they currently do for my dad and many others."
