A LONG-established Malvern packaging firm has re-opened its retail shop in response to popular demand.

Hado Polythene has made and supplied polythene packaging to industry locally and across the UK for four decades and has been based in Malvern since the mid-1970s.

The company ran a small shop at its Spring Lane Factory for three years, but when the business moved to Betony Road in 2014, the decision was made to revert to trade only.

But local demand has re-surfaced in light of customers’ growing frustrations with buying products online, and Hado has now opened a new, much to the delight of local people and businesses.

Co-owner Will Hale said: “We have been overwhelmed with the amount of people that have called in over the past 12 months to say how much they missed our shop.”

“In our experience customers like to see and feel what they are buying, to properly have confidence when spending their money.

"Opening the shop back up is purely down to answering the call of local people and businesses who want to buy at a level that suits them, and have confidence in the product they are purchasing.”

The shop features over 100 lines of stock, including freezer bags, heavy-duty sacks, plant pots, garden tools, kitchen sundries and packaging supplies such as bubble wrap, boxes and sheeting.

“We are very excited to have the shop open again, and to be able to welcome back local people. Without their support and keenness to buy local, we wouldn’t have been of a mind to open the shop again. It is a strong value of Malvern people, and we recognise and appreciate that,” said Mr Hale.
