THE Malvern Theatre Players will celebrate their 40th anniversary with a get-together and a walk down memory lane in good company

But in fact, the group's origins can be traced further back to the dark days of World War Two, "when amateur dramatics was a welcome stress reliver for the many men and women who came to Malvern to work on the top secret development of radar".

A spokesman added: "All past and present members are being invited to a celebration at the group's new home – The Coach House Theatre in Grange Road.

"There will be much to remember, from the early days as The Nelson Players to the joining together with other local groups to save The Festival Theatre, when it closed in 1963, and then there are the many plays, pantomimes and reviews that have entertained Malvern over the succeeding years."

Anyone wishing to recall and celebrate a past association with The Malvern Theatre Players should come to the Coach House Theatre on Saturday June 23 at 7.30pm to look back at The Players’ history and to look forward to the future.
