A NEW wildflower meadow is bursting into life at a Stourport nature reserve.
Wyre Forest District Council's rangers are reaping the rewards to work carried out at Burlish Top Nature Reserve during last winter, when they removed an area of scrub woodland to create a new meadow.
Technically, the meadow areas at Burlish Top are known as "acidic grassland", which is one of the rarest and most threatened wildlife habitats in the UK and one of the specialities of the Wyre Forest district.
Photos taken by the rangers recently, show that the meadow is already benefitting from a range of wildlife that depends on this rare habitat type.
Councillor Juliet Smith, cabinet member for culture, leisure and community protection, said: "The photographs of the new meadow are beautiful and a testament to all the hard work carried out by our ranger service.
"We are very lucky in Wyre Forest to have so many nature reserves and areas of beauty. I am sure visitors to Burlish Top will be delighted with the new meadow."
