STUDENTS across the vale celebrated impressive A-level results.

Prince Henry's High School in Evesham saw 32 percent of its students receiving grades from A* to A, whilst 60 percent were B grade or above and 87 percent C grade or above.

A fifth of the students achieved at least 3 A grades at A-level, with a pass rate of 99.5 percent.

Four students received Oxbridge offers and all were successful in reaching the required grades.

Sophie Metcalfe is going on to study geography at Cambridge University whilst Ella Marshall-Shepherd, Sam Rooney and Yva Petit will study music, law and medicine respectively at Oxford University.

The top performer with 4 A* grades at A-level was Isaac Pillar.

Headteacher Dr Tony Evans said: "Congratulations to all the students. My staff and I are delighted with the performances that we have seen this year.

"These are truly wonderful achievements and are a testament to the hard work of the students, their parents and the teachers who have supported them.

"We wish all our Year 13 students every success with their future careers. They have been a wonderful year group and we are all very proud of them."

Head of sixth form Mrs Webb said: “I am delighted that the students have been rewarded for all their hard work and commitment with these tremendous results.

"It has been a pleasure working with them over the last two years and I wish them every success in the next stage of their lives”.

At Pershore High School, 99 percent of students received grades between A* and E, with 72 percent of all results were grade C or higher and 45 percent a grade B or above in addition to 19 percent of entries at grade A or above.

Students are going onto a range of courses including medicine at Newcastle, mathematics at Warwick, drama at Birmingham, medical sciences at Leeds and German and politics at Sheffield.

Amongst notable performances included Sigmund Rumney with 3 A*s and one A and Charlotte Bradley and Megan Hedges who each achieved 2 A*s and 2 A's.

In addition, a number of students are beginning higher level apprenticeships with a range of companies.

Headteacher, Clive Corbett thanked the Sixth Form team of Jason Howell, Zoe Starkey, Jo Robinson and all other staff for contributing to the level of student performance.

He said; "In this, the 38th year of my involvement in examinations, I need to remind our youngsters and their parents that A’ levels continue to provide an exceptionally rigorous challenge. Success therefore is not easily achieved, and I would like to offer all of our students my best wishes in their future endeavours."

Students and staff at The De Montfort School are also celebrating some very good A-level and BTEC results and are eagerly looking forward to the next stage of their education.

Guy Nichols, headteacher said: “We are very proud of our students’ successes and it is great that they really appreciate the commitment and dedication they have received from our wonderful staff here at TDMS who have turned out in large numbers to share this moment with them.

"It is an emotional time and the end of our students’ journey at TDMS and we would like to thank them for the contribution they have made to our school.

"We are also delighted that our AS results were very encouraging.”
