THE Sunshine Festival of Upton, now it its eighth year, wants to cement its place in the nation's heart as "England's greatest family festival", and the 2017 line-up certainly has appeal across the generations.

Mega boy band, Blue, will be one of the headline acts, with a track-record of 40m singles sold worldwide and three UK number one singles.

A spokesman said: "Comprising of London-based lads Antony Costa, Simon Webbe, Lee Ryan and Duncan James, Blue released their first single in May 2001, the anthemic ‘All Rise’, and were immediately on their way to pop stardom. Hit singles from their three number albums included ‘All Rise’, ‘If You Come Back’, ‘Fly By’, ‘One Love’, ‘Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word’ (with Sir Elton John), ‘Bubblin’ and ‘Signed Sealed Delivered’ (with Stevie Wonder & Angie Stone)."

And then there's the enduring legend known as Paul Young.

The spokesman added: "With his stylish charm and unique vocal talent Paul quickly cemented a place in the nations hearts. Coming into his own with his first solo album ‘No Parlez’ in 1983, the release went triple platinum in the UK alone, and spawned the No 1 single ‘Wherever I Lay My Hat (That’s My Home)’, which maintained the top spot for most of that summer."

Other headliners will include the posh-voiced Sophie Ellis-Bextor, the vocalist for the monster disco house hit, "If This Ain't Love"; - and who is not impressed by the mighty Atomic Kitten? Just a youthful heartbeat ago they were the biggest girl group in Europe.

Kim Wilde is also a name from musical Memory Lane to be conjured with.

Born in Chiswick, West London to legendary 1950’s British Rock’n’Roll singer, Marty Wilde, and his wife Joyce – a member of the singing group, The Vernons Girls, Kim is truly pop royalty.

Her first single release, ‘Kids In America’ in 1981, was a worldwide hit paving the way for a recording career which has so far yielded twelve studio albums and in excess of thirty singles.

Now the Worcester News and Sunshine have joined forces in a great fun competition, with a family ticket up for grabs.

Even more amazing, the ticket will cover two adults and three teens, and any kids in the family under 12 will get in free.
