DRIVERS are being warned to take care on the roads as snow and sleet has fallen in some places in Worcestershire this Sunday morning.

Earlier, a yellow warning for snow and ice was issued by the Met Office, and those remain in place until 6pm. The forecast is for the snow and sleet to fall as heavy rain from lunchtime.

Snow has stuck in some places in the last hour, with Worcestershire Highways' snowploughs now sent out to deal with accumulations over higher ground - including on the Malvern Hills.

The Met Office warning says: "Some roads and railways likely to be affected, with longer journey times by road, bus and train services.

"Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces.

"Probably some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths."

Motorists are being advised to take it care on the roads and to reduce speed due to issues such as the possible ice and localised flooding in some areas.
