LANDLORDS in Bromsgrove are invited to attend the next Landlords Forum or Warmer Winter event, ahead of new law changes.

As of April 1, privately-rented properties with a poor energy performance certificate of F or G will need to improve, or be registered exempt.

All Worcestershire homes of this category are currently eligible for subsidised loft and cavity insulation, saving landlords and tenants expensive costs.

Some homes may also be eligible for replacement oil or LPG boilers.

Judith Willis, head of community services at Bromsgrove District Council, said: “We hope that this legislative change will help to improve energy efficiency standards in the private rented sector and we are keen to work closely with private landlords to make sure they are aware of the changes and help them make the necessary improvements to their properties for the benefit of themselves and their tenants.”

The next Warmer Winter event on Wednesday, March 14 will be held at Bromsgrove Library from 9.30am to 1pm.

Visitors can find out more about the law changes and get advice on energy bills, insulation and boiler grants.

Severn Trent will be on site offering advice on water bills, while Hereford and Worcester Fire Service can talk guests through their home fire safety and smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.

Care and Repair Worcestershire will be giving tips on home adaptations and means-tested benefits, and Age UK will be letting people know about their services.

Landlords can also find out more about the upcoming law changes at the next Bromsgrove and Redditch Private Landlords Forum on April 26, from 2.30pm to 6.45pm at the Parkside Suite.

To register, email strategichousingteam@bromsgroveandredditch.gov.uk or call 01527 881 799.
