BABIES and tots from 12 weeks to four years are set to part in a Splashathon in Worcester to raise money for the Tommy’s charity.

The babies and toddlers, who will don pirate and princess themed fancy dress, will take part in water-based activities including swimming a width of the pool.

The youngsters attend Water Babies classes at Regency High School, Carnforth Drive and Worcester Snoezelen Centre, in Turnpike Close.

Donations raised through the event will go to Tommy’s to fund further research into miscarriage, stillbirth and premature birth.

Katherine Morgan, who will be hosting the events across Worcester and elsewhere in the region, said: "We are extremely proud to be supporting Tommy’s again in this year’s Splashathon.

"We have also known families who have suffered the extremely tragic loss of babies who have been born sleeping which is completely harrowing.

"The work that Tommy’s have been involved in, in opening the early miscarriage unit in Birmingham Women’s Hospital is a massive step in the right direction to allowing families the support that they need and deserve when experiencing what can a be a scary process of conceiving a child."

The national charity campaign, which is taking place nationwide throughout June and July, was recently launched by former Saturdays singer, and mum of two, Una Healy.

After raising £816,477 in 2015, this year’s Splashathon aims to reach the £1 million mark.

This will help up to 60,000 families visit Tommy’s National Centre for Miscarriage Research, and realise their dream of having a baby.
