A TEENAGER has died after being hit by a van on a road south of Bromyard.

A 19-year-old male pedestrian was hit by a silver VW Transporter on the A465 towards Stoke Lacey just past the junction with the B4214 towards Bishops Frome.

The van was travelling from Bromyard in the direction of Stoke Lacey at around 6.20pm on Saturday when the crash happened.

The pedestrian, a 19 year old man, suffered serious injuries and was treated by helimed doctors and paramedics, but died at the scene.

Investigating officer, PC Mark Bullingham, said: "We would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed what happened, or who may have seen the man prior to the incident.

"Our thoughts are with his family, and we ask for their privacy to be respected at this difficult time."

Anyone with information is asked to call West Mercia Police on 101 quoting incident 700s of 24 June 2017.

A spokesman for the ambulance service said they sent two ambulances, a paramedic officer and two air ambulances from Cosford and Strensham. An off duty paramedic attended as as well.

Advanced life support treatment was carried out but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mike Johnson, a member of the public who was at the scene, said other members of the public carried out CPR before the emergency services arrived.

He said: "The people who were trying to save the lad's life were amazing."

He also praised the emergency services.

Mr Johnson added: "I give all my respect to those who tried to save him and to the family, I am sorry for their loss."
