Redditch man arrested for pitch invasion during Aston Villa v Birmingham City derby
A REDDITCH man has been arrested in connection with a pitch invasion during the Aston Villa v Birmingham City derby on Sunday.
West Midlands Police said the men were detained during a “safety and security operation” as Villa beat their bitter rivals 1-0.
The 18-year-old from Redditch was one of four others arrested arrested for pitch encroachment after the match.
A 24-year-old man from Swadlincote, Derbyshire, and three men aged 21 to 30, all from Birmingham, were also arrested.
They have been charged and will appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court on 9 May.
