FAMILIES from across Worcestershire are being given the chance to enjoy some of the region’s grand houses and parkland while on a mission to find their favourite sweet treat over Easter.

Midlands chocolate giant Cadbury has teamed up with the National Trust to offer what they believe is the ultimate Easter holiday day out.

Hundreds of the trust’s properties across the country are staging Cadbury Easter egg hunts for youngsters to enjoy in the build up to Easter. Youngsters and their families will have to solve the clues to find the egg at the end of the trail and claim their chocolate prize.

Greyfriars in Friar Street, Worcester; Croome Park, near Pershore; Hanbury Hall, near Droitwich; and the Brockhampton Estate, near Bromyard; are all taking part in the big egg hunt before and after Easter together with other family activities at each of the venues.

At Greyfriars the egg hunt takes place on Friday April 14 from 1pm to 5pm, while Hanbury Hall is staging hunts from Friday April 14 through to Monday April 17 from 10am to 4pm.

The Easter treats will be hidden around the park at Croome from Saturday April 8 until Sunday April 23 from 10 am to 4pm. Visitors to Croome on Wednesday April 19 can also also try their hands at archery. An Archery GB qualified instructor will be available to teach people to shoot a recurve bow.

All equipment is supplied and the event is suitable for eight-year-olds and older, including adults. The cost is £7 per person and people can book their places in advance by contacting Really Rural by visiting www.eventbrite.co.uk, emailing info@reallyrural.co.uk or calling 01885 489104.

The Brockhampton Estate is staging its Cadbury Easter Egg hunt over the Easter weekend but the fun begins on Saturday April 8 until Sunday April 23 when families can go along, follow the trail and learn all about the mischievous adventures of young Peter Rabbit, a much loved story written by Beatrix Potter and published in 1902. Those who successfully follow the clues can claim a prize at the end.

Visitors can also pick up a free copy of the ‘50 things to do before you are 11 ¾’ and see what adventures can be had at Brockhampton Estate - exploring the natural play trail winding through the woodland, climb a tree and jump in a puddle.

There are also six walking routes on the estate suitable for all ages and abilities so people can take the whole family, including the family dog, and explore miles of the woods and parkland.

Over the Weekend of April 22 and 23, families will also have the opportunity of seeing some of the lambs from the tenant farm at Brockhampton. They can learn all about how farmers care for and feed the fluffy bundles.
