A BROMSGROVE charity who provide foster care to young people have been awarded £8,760 to fund a project which helps children through the fostering process.

The Children's Family Trust West Midlands, based at Harris Business Park in Stoke Prior, have been handed the grant by The Big Lottery Fund for their “Ace In The Pack” campaign.

The money will help fund the production of educational videos, which will then be embedded into QR codes in playing cards so children can create ‘visual guides’.

This will improve access to information and help reduce anxiety or worries about the fostering process.

Jessica Harper of The Children's Family Trust said: "The idea is to change how we share important information with the young people who are in our care and the best people to do this are the young people themselves.

"We are working with them to create visual children's guides and they will tell us what information they want in them from their own experiences.

"We are grateful to The Big Lottery Fund for the money that has been awarded to us, giving us the opportunity to carry out this project and include young people in delivering a service that better fulfils their needs."

The campaign was one of 64 projects handed a total of more than £2.8 million across the West Midlands.
