THE chairman of a support group that helps people in Redditch and Bromsgrove with ME says he fears it could be forced to close if volunteers can not be found.

Ian Logan has made a desperate call to arms for new members to maintain the running of the Worcestershire ME Support Group, which provides vital support to people affected by ME, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Post Viral Fatigue Syndrome, and Fibromyalgia Syndrome.

Groups offer help by letting people talk about all matters relating to living with the medical condition - which causes sufferers to feel constant exhaustion - and getting to know others going through a similar situation.

The service has been running for over two decades but at the next annual general meeting later this month, its possible closure is to be discussed.

Mr Logan said: "Members have discussed before about closure, and some feel this is imminent unless we find people to take on the roles so it can carry on.

"The key roles we need filling are secretary, someone to run the newsletter and to speak to the press, and treasurer.

"We are all getting older, we need the right people to take it on in the future.

"We used to run meetings across the county - in Kidderminster, Redditch, Bromsgrove and Pershore.

"Now we just hold meetings in Malvern, Droitwich and Worcester."

The annual general meeting is being held at in Malvern on Friday, September 23.
