AFTER a successful first 12 months, Halesowen Youth Theatre is starting its second year with the goal of becoming “one of the biggest youth theatres around”.

The group is looking to take in a wave of new members following its successful production of Oliver! The Musical last year.

Ben Pountney, co-founder and co-director of Halesowen Youth Theatre, said: “It has been an amazing opening year for us at HYT. I am stunned and so proud of the work that has been put in over our first year.

“It has only motivated us here more to continue to nurture HYT into one of the biggest youth theatres around.”

Aspiring actors – between the ages of four and 18 – are being welcomed to join the group, who currently rehearse every Wednesday evening at Hillcrest School, in Stonehouse Lane, Birmingham.

The company is split into two sections, with the junior class for four to 10-year-old running from 6.30pm to 7.30pm, while the senior class for ages 11 to 18 runs between 7pm and 8.30pm.

Ben added: “We are accepting all aspiring performers. We are passionate about the performing arts and want to share our passion with the world and the young people around us to help them with their quest to succeed in this field.”

The non-profit organisation charges £4 for the senior section classes and £3.50 for juniors which goes towards the cost of shows, trips and events.
