STROKE survivors in Sandwell have been given a new meeting place for their helpful exercise sessions.
After outgrowing its previous venues, the Rowley Stroke Association Support Group is now meeting at the Portway Lifestyle Centre in Newbury Lane.
The group has been helped in finding their new location by Sandwell Council and members can now get together in a large modern room where they will have access to qualified and experienced Portway gym instructors and a regular programme of appropriate exercise activities.
Councillor Elaine Costigan, cabinet member for public health and protection, said: “The group provides encouragement, friendship, support and of course tea and biscuits for people who have had a stroke.
“It’s great that, thanks to Hayley Birch at Portway and Matt Hill, Rowley’s community activity network development officer, they have a new place to meet and the opportunity for exercise sessions.”
The group meets on the second Wednesday of every month from 2pm to 4pm and welcome new people. For more information call Wendy or Paul Foster on 07885 706060.
