STUDENTS across Halesowen and Sandwell have been celebrating a bumper crop of A-level and BTEC results today.

Halesowen College is celebrating yet another highly successful year with an A-level pass rate of 98 per cent, while 105 students achieved the highest possible ‘triple distinction star’ grades on their level three applied programmes – the equivalent of three As at A-level.

David Williams, principal, said: “We are absolute delighted with the results, particularly as many learners studied the new linear A-levels for the first time.

“I would like to congratulate each and every student who have worked hard to achieve their very best and thank the staff who have expertly supported our learners throughout the academic year.”

Windsor High School’s sixth form students came away with a 99 per cent pass rate in their A-level results this year, with 45 per cent of pupils achieving grades A* to B, while 77 per cent attained at least a C – or equivalent – grades.

A spokesman for the school said: “We have another fantastic set of results this year, testament to the hard work and dedication shown by our students and staff.”

Ormiston Forge Academy in Cradley Heath is celebrating its best ever results after 84 per cent of the A-level cohort achieved three or more passes at grades A*-E.

When including vocational results, 94 per cent of students achieved two or more A-levels passes and 100 per cent achieved one or more.

Principal Andrew Burns said: “Last year we were in the top 16 per cent in the country for progress, this year the results have improved yet again. It’s a measure of how hard our students are working and the high bar each consecutive year group sets for the next."

More than 80 per cent of pupils at Bristnall Hall Academy in Oldbury achieved three or more academic A-levels.

Vince Green, principal, said: “I am delighted with another set of impressive A-level results. Yet again, the dedication of our students and staff has resulted in those leaving Bristnall Hall having great life opportunities moving forwards.”

At Oldbury Academy, results have improved significantly across all areas with students achieving total pass rate of 98.2 per cent – a 4 per cent improvement on last year.

Headteacher Philip Shackleton said: “Congratulations to all of our students, who have worked tremendously hard to achieve an incredible set of results.

“Many of these students have been with us for seven years and these results are just rewards for their efforts.”

Star performers at Sandwell College are celebrating a 100 per cent pass rates in 17 different A-level subjects this year.

College principal Graham Pennington said: “Everyone at the college is so proud of the achievement of our students and that so many of them will now be going on to university, or into jobs and apprenticeships.”

While Sandwell Academy have reported 100 per cent of its students have achieved at least a pass grade in every subject.

Simon Topper, head of the academy, said: ‘’I am once again delighted at the outcomes achieved by our sixth form students and send my heartiest congratulations to them all.”
