THE streets of Stourbridge will once again be filled with the sights and sounds of traditional dance as Bedcote Morris holds its third annual Day of Dance.

Bedcote, Stourbridge’s own Cotswold Morris side, is hosting the event on Saturday May 20 - with free performances taking place around the town.

A variety of dance styles will be on show, including Cotswold and Border Morris, clog, belly and Irish.

Chris Burton, squire of Bedcote Morris, said: “Our Day of Dance is now established on the local dance calendar and has attracted interest from across the region.

“There should be something to please most dance fans – and those who are new to the scene. There is a real wealth of dancing talent in this part of the world in a wide variety of styles and we want to spread the word that traditional dance is alive and kicking.”

Performances will take place from 11am to 3pm by the town clock where Lower High Street meets Coventry Street, at the entrance to the Ryemarket in the High Street and in St Thomas’s Church Community Garden in Market Street.

Dancers taking part will include Castle Clog, Itchy Feet Appalachian and the Gallagher O’Connor Academy of Irish Dance.

The day will also include performances by 1st Sedgley Morris, Beorma Border Morris from Birmingham, Foxs Border Morris and Belly Fusion Dance Collective.
