BIG-HEARTED members of a Halesowen church are planning to surprise Blackheath shoppers by giving away free Easter eggs.

Hurst Green Family Church is taking part in the national Share The Miracle movement which will see thousands of people across the country giving away Easter eggs on the next two Saturdays.

As well as the chocolate treats the churchgoers will be inviting shoppers to an Easter Sunday praise celebration where free English and Asian food and drinks will be served as well as live entertainment.

Pastor Nigel Powell said: "It is the first time we have joined in with this growing movement and I hope that it will bring just a little touch of joy into the lives of those we meet over the next couple of weeks within our community at a time when there is so much bad news.

"Easter is a time for celebrating the greatest gift this world has ever received and we just want to share some of that celebratory joy around a bit.”

The Share The Miracle movement started in four years ago and last year 23,000 people across the UK received unexpected free gifts from neighbours.

Founder Dan Usher said: "Our vision is so simple, just to show intentional small acts of kindness this Easter and help release fresh hope and start new friendships across our local communities – everyone can join in and play their part.

"I believe that we’re all designed for kindness and by giving a small gift such as an Easter Egg and extending an invitation to a community or social event, could change someone’s life."
