A NETHERTON camera enthusiast is about to launch his first solo photography exhibition.

Terrence Alliband has been an amateur photographer for more than 50 years but when he retired eight years ago, he decided it was time to take his hobby more seriously.

The 68-year-old enrolled on a digital photography course through Dudley Adult Community Learning (DACL) and soon honed his snapping skills.

He has spent the last few years, volunteering as the photographer for DACL and ArtSpace Dudley, capturing a variety of the organisations' events but he has decided the time is now right to showcase his talents.

Mr Alliband will hold a four-week exhibition at Artspace Dudley, based in Birdcage Walk, which will launch on Friday, January 27.

The opening night will run from 7pm to 9.30pm and give art fans the chance to meet Mr Alliband and discuss his work over wine and nibbles.

More than 70 photographs will be on display, including portraits and familiar borough scenes, including The Waterfront and the Black Country Living Museum.

The free exhibition, sponsored by TSAssoc Ltd, will be open on Thursdays and Fridays from 10am to 4pm and on Saturdays from 11am to 4pm.
