DUDLEY'S gritters will be out tonight (Thursday January 12) as wintry weather takes hold.

Sleet and snow showers are forecast across the region, with strong northerly winds and freezing temperatures.

A spokesman for Dudley Council said: "Our gritters have been out this morning and will be out again overnight.

"Snow is forecast for tonight and into tomorrow morning and we will continue to monitor throughout tonight."

The council has a team of 40 gritters who work shifts around the clock to monitor the weather and help to keep almost 300 miles of roads clear.
