A YOUNG Tenbury woman was helped to raise more nearly £400,000 for breast cancer charities.

Laura Hunter took part in London Fashion Week to raise funds and awareness of breast cancer.

The show was another stage in helping her to come to terms with a diagnosis of breast cancer in her early 20’s.

“The Show was incredible,” said Laura.

“It was a day full of love, laughter, tears & amazing men and women. I am so thankful to everyone that has supported me, made a donation to my fundraising page and to everyone involved in The Show. The whole event raised over £370,000!

“Before breast cancer, I don’t know if I would have had the confidence to get up and parade in front of such a large audience.

“Going through treatment and having to face a diagnosis of cancer has pushed me into finding a new sense of courage and I think that, combined with the support and encouragement of Breast Cancer Care and my fellow models, really helped me to get up and strut my stuff! Knowing that we were all there for the same reason and there to support and encourage each other made the whole experience so invaluable and worthwhile.

“It was an honour to be part of Breast Cancer Care’s flagship event and to help to raise awareness of Breast Cancer and show my appreciation for the services that Breast Cancer Care provide. I definitely hope to apply to volunteer at the next one!”

Laura was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 24 and had to undergo surgery and faces many years of treatment with drugs.

She wants to encourage the formation of support groups for young adults with cancer.
