A MAJOR investment in new x-ray equipment will take place at Ludlow Hospital.

It will mark the latest contribution from the Friends of the Hospital to improving services for patients.

Proposals for the replacement of x-ray equipment are now finalised and the Hospital League of Friends will purchase the equipment at a cost of £150,000.

There will also need to be modifications made to the building and these will be paid for by the NHS.

New x-ray facilities are the latest in a long list of improvements that have been made possible through the contribution of volunteers.

This has included the provision of equipment to enable kidney dialysis as well as new beds.

“We have recently completed the purchase of physiotherapy equipment for lower limb assessment and treatment, ankle, knee and hip therapy at a cost of £3,000, using funds donated in memory of the late Joyce Thomas,” said Peter Corfield, chairman of the league of friends.

The group has also spent £1,300 to replace an exercise cycle.

A new probe for the ultrasound scanner at the hospital will also be provided at a cost of £6,000.
