A LUDLOW-based charity that cares for hedgehogs has received a boost to its bank balance.

Pricklebums hedgehogs has received a £2,500 capital grant from Support Adoption For Pets, the UK’s largest grant-giving animal charity, to go towards the rescue’s vet bills.

Based in Ludlow, the charity works to rescue and rehabilitate injured or sick hedgehogs, while raising awareness in the local community on how to care for and support them.

“It is a real privilege to help an organisation that works so hard to care for hedgehogs in need,” said Amy Wilson, fundraising manager at Support Adoption for Pets.

“They are doing a superb job, and the effort the rescue puts in is an inspiration.”

Support Adoption for Pets is an independent charity established by Pets at Home in 2006. Since then it has helped more than 1,000 rehoming centres and animal welfare organisations across the UK. In addition to its fundraising work, it also runs dedicated adoption centres in nearly 400 Pets at Home stores.
