TEN men paddled 26.2miles down the River Wye to raise money for a cancer charity.

The men jumped on paddle boards and passed through Sellack, Foy, Kerne and Lydbrook, before finishing their marathon at Ye Olde Ferrie Inn in Symonds Yat.

They completed the challenge for Something To Look Forward To, a charity which passes on donated gifts and experiences to people affected by cancer and their families and carers, including restaurant meals, hotel stays and days out.

Jamie Hicks, who runs Ye Olde Ferrie Inn, is one of the charity’s biggest supporters, making a gift donation of a night’s stay for two people affected by cancer plus a £50 restaurant meal, every month.

The paddleboarders were also supported by Mark Simons from Ross-on-Wye Canoe hire who drove the team to the drop-off point and donated a canoe for the paddle board instructor to use to support the team on their challenge.

He has also donated canoe vouchers to go to couples and families who are affected by cancer in Herefordshire.

The donations are still rolling in but the team have collectively raised more than £6,000.
