VISITORS to a south Herefordshire farm learnt about measures to protect wildlife on the site.

The second of two Ribena Farmily Fun Days took place at Windmill Hill in Harwood End, where Anthony and Christine Snell operate as one of the UK's leading fresh and frozen fruit growers.

Farm owner Anthony Snell showed visitors how the estate works with Ribena to grow blackcurrants and also protect local wildlife, including planting hedgerows, introducing nest boxes and encouraging rough grassland.

Mr Snell said: "It was a great turn-out in spite of some very mixed British weather.

"We welcomed lots of our neighbours showing them behind the scenes on our farm and also how we nurture local wildlife. It took a few people by surprise to learn that we are a supplier to Ribena and that our blackcurrants go into one of the country’s best-loved soft drinks.

"I’d like to thank everyone that came down to join us. The day was nothing short of a success. We’re hoping that next year we can make it even bigger and better and open our doors to even more of our local community."
