LEDBURY Community Day returns next month with a mass celebration of the town's groups and organisations, and a big family picnic to bring everyone together.

Organisers say this year's event in scale will match last year's huge celebration, which featured more than 70 groups and attracted hundreds of people to the town centre on the day.

Event spokesman, Griff Holliday said: "It will be about the same this year. Ledbury Community Day enables groups to show what they do best and the feedback is that any organisations looking for more supporters will find supporters, by taking part.

"This is really something for the Ledbury Community, although we'll also be having several community level organisations taking part, such as The Canal Trust."

In total, Community Day this year, on June 10, will be spread out 17 locations, from The Recreation Ground, where the mass family picnic will take place on the afternoon, to St Katherine’s Hall and Chapel, the Burgage Hall, Ledbury Community Centre, cobbled Church Lane, St Michael and All Angels Church and The Master’s House. There will also be exhibitions in the High Street.

This will be the fifth Ledbury Community Day to take place, and it could even prove to be a record breaker.

Organisations taking part will range from local schools to the Evergreen Club, from The Big Apple to sports clubs, and from the Ledbury Amateur Dramatics Society to local churches.

Other groups will include Rotary, Ledbury and District Civic Society, The Naturalists Field Club and Ledbury Town Council.

A printed programme is already out, "in shops and public places around Ledbury" and it is also online, at www.ledburycommunityday.org.uk
