ONE of Hereford's last backstreet pubs looks to have pulled its final pint.
The Moorfield Inn has remained empty since it closed at the beginning of 2015.
And a planning application has now been submitted to turn the pub into two semi-detached houses.
A further two semi-detached houses would be built, along with the creation of four car parking spaces, in the yard area should the proposal be approved.
The permanent loss of the Richmond Street bar within the inner city area of Moorfields mean that only a handful of small neighbourhood pubs will remain tucked away off the city's main roads.
The Vaga, Volunteer and Britannia are among those backstreet pubs still successfully trading.
Steve Harrison, the applicant behind the planning application, owns another community pub in Hereford but said the industry was struggling.
Writing in support of the application, he said the pub's location "on a narrow street and relations with neighbours and a restrictive licence means it is a natural, logical victim of drinking trends in Hereford and the UK".
