A LEOMINSTER town councillor has penned the latest novel in his new fantasy series.

Power of Seven is the second in Councillor Peter Ellis' Evil Above the Stars series, featuring 16-year-old September Weekes who is 'thrust into a strange environment and is given the task she doesn't know how she can possibly complete'.

The fantasy adventure is inspired by Councillor Ellis' love of Welsh mythology and the history of science, featuring a battle of good against evil, miraculous metals and mythical monsters.

He said: "I have always been interested in science fiction and fantasies. It's a combination of my love of Welsh mythology and the history or science, particularly medieval chemistry or alchemy and it all kind of came together when I had an idea of the character September Weeks and an alternate world.

"It was great fun to write and I have also written a third volume which will be coming out probably this time next year."

Councillor Ellis is holding a competition for illustrators and is asking for participants to illustrate a scene from either book to be in with a chance of winning a £30 book token. The winning images will be used in subsequent events. Terms and conditions are on Councillor Ellis' blog at ellifont.wordpress.com
