THE proof is in the Herefordshire potato if Tyrrells' recent success is anything to go by.

The "quintessentially English" crisp brand is celebrating after scooping nine golds at this year's Great Taste Awards.

Considered the Oscars of the food world – each category is judged by a panel of experts including retailers, chefs, restaurant critics, food writers and industry experts – the latest batch of awards takes Tyrrells' total to 64 in 12 years.

Cath White, of Tyrrells Crisps, said: "We are thrilled to have won so many awards across our range. Whether it's popcorn, veg crisps, apple crisps or all-time favourite potato crisps, the results not only prove that our innovation is working, but also that Herefordshire potatoes keep making the best crisps year after year.

"The Great Taste Awards are a fantastic opportunity for British producers to show off their talent; we're very proud to be one of them."

Proving it is at the forefront of innovation within the world of snacks, three of Tyrrells most recent launches are included in the gold medal line-up, including 'swanky' veg – which includes candy striped beetroot and golden beetroot, apple crisps and sweet potato and chipotle chilli crisps.

Other winners include long standing favourites sweet chilli and red pepper crisps, sea salt and black pepper crisps and freshly farm-popped sea salted popcorn.

This year, more than 8,000 products were entered into the awards.
