A COUNTY woman has thanked firefighters who helped free her horse from mud.
Bromyard's Animal Rescue Team was called to help rescue 28-year-old Shire Horse Duchess who had become trapped in mud up to her waist in a field at her Munderfield home at around 3.30pm on Saturday .
After six hours, the rescue team was able to free her, using strops and a slide board.
Owner, Vicki Goodson, 58, said that Duchess, who weighs more than a ton and stands at around 17 hands tall, has been given some pain killers by vets but was not injured during the incident.
She wanted to thank the firefighters who attended and helped rescue her horse during the "traumatic experience".
