STUDENTS competed for the chance to take part in a regional slam poetry competition.
A workshop presented by Giovanni 'Spoz' Esposito allowed 80 year eight students at Chipping Campden School to create their own poem in the increasingly used style of ‘rap’.
Different groups were set up on their own creations based on the theme ‘Our Generation’.
From the 14 teams a panel of teachers acting as judges to represent the school at Cheltenham Poetry Festival School Slam final, which took place at Cheltenham Town Hall on Monday April 28.
Year 12 student, Abigail Miller said: "A lot of effort went into the performances, along with a lot of practicing, allowing them to show what Chipping Campden students are capable of.
When I spoke to both teams they were shocked but happy at their success, and they felt it had also strengthened their friendships.
"Events and workshops such as these give children opportunities to extend their learning, whilst causing some to fall in love with the art in the process.
"The school is lucky to be able to help the students broaden their horizons in this way, often through our close relationship with our very supportive Parents’ Association."
