GARDENS will open their doors to green-fingered enthusiasts.

The second May bank holiday will see a picturesque garden in Little Rissington open to visitors.

Greenfields, in the village, opposite Leasow Lane, is open for the first time.

The-two acre garden has been created by the current owners over the last sixteen years.

Features include lawns fringed with flower-filled borders, mature apple trees in a wild garden, and a vegetable garden.

A small pond and stream overlook fields, whilst bantam hens run about freely.

It will be open from 2pm until 6pm on Sunday May 28.

Charingworth Court on Broadway Road in Winchcombe will also be open, showcasing a garden inspired by a visit to Japan.

Visitors to the garden can appreciate the planting and sculptures.

It is open on Saturday May 20 and Sunday May 21 from 11am until 5.30pm.

The main lawn is fringed by a semi-circle of trees.

The garden opening also coincides with an annual sculpture selling exhibition, run by local gallery, Winds of Change.

The second May Bank Holiday marks the 90th anniversary of the National Garden Scheme.

The scheme was set up in 1927 to raise money for the Queen’s Nursing Institute, which will receive a special anniversary cheque this year to fund the training of district nurses.
