THIS year's Moreton Show will have a substitute secretary to oversee things.

Lucy Mellor has taken on the job for a year whilst show secretary Sarah Taylor looks after her baby son.

Ms Mellor studied at Harper Adams University in Shropshire and has a wide experience of working in the agriculture, food and event industries.

Ms Mellor said: ‘I’m delighted to be joining the Moreton team.

"I’ve always been interested in agriculture and the countryside so naturally love Moreton Show, which is always innovating and developing.

"This year, we have a new membership drive with lots more on offer and I’m looking forward to promoting some of the new classes and attractions we have for 2017."

Ms Mellor set up the Asparagus Festival in Evesham and has also helped to run the Royal Show, the Royal Festival of the Horse and the Livestock Event at the NEC in Birmingham.

She’s also managed events for fishing and shooting magazines.

She also formerly worked with the Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers and helped set up the Women in Dairy initiative, which promotes training and networking for women in the dairy industry.

The Moreton-in-Marsh Show is a traditional one day Agricultural and Horse Show which is held on the first Saturday in September each year, with this year's event taking place on Saturday September 2.
