PUPILS at a Cotswold school welcomed Richard Dawkins for an interesting lecture on religion.
Chipping Norton School were visited by Professor Dawkins earlier this month. The talk entitled “the role of religion in society” was given to year 11 up to 13 students, studying science and philosophy.
During the talk Professor Dawkins outlined his ideas and opinions to a packed lecture theatre, reminding pupils that no one is born a child of their religion. His talk consisted of six sections including education and interpretation, focusing on Islam and Christianity.
After the talk, Professor Dawkins held a question and answer session for over an hour. Judith Bovington, from the school, said: “The questions students asked were philosophical and challenging.”
Some of the pupils also had the opportunity to sit next to the author, who was promoting his book The God Delusion at the event.
