A STUDENT has won a dream poker holiday to the Bahamas to play in a major tournament.

The 24-year-old man from Malvern will compete in the PokerStars Players No Limit Hold’em Championship (PSPC), which PokerStars aims to make the richest $25,000 buy in live event in poker history.

Mr Brankin, who studies Social Cognition, will join some of the world’s best poker players in the Bahamas having overcome a field of 751 players at the PokerStars MEGASTACK London Main Event to lift the trophy, and take home £9,750 in prize money and a platinum pass to the PSPC worth around $30,000.

“It’s so unbelievable that I’ll be going to the Bahamas,” he said. “It should be a lot of fun. A holiday, sun, sea, meet professionals and a chance to play the PSPC.”

The PSPC Platinum Pass includes $25,000 buy-in to the tournament, six nights’ accommodation at the Atlantis Resort, Nassau, room folio and travel expenses for Peter and a guest.

The poker player added: “I haven’t really thought about who I’d like to take with me to the Bahamas. I don’t have a girlfriend just now, but I’ve now got a great opening line to put on my Tinder profile.”
