SOME spectacular creations have been on display for Christmas jumper day.

The day is held, annually, on December 15 and raises money for Save the Children.

People are encouraged to wear their wackiest or most festive knitwear in exchange for a donation.

Schools and workplaces across Worcestershire have taken part in what has become a modern-day tradition.

Staff at the Worcester News joined in, with workers in our advertising and newspaper sales departments getting into the festive spirit.

Also taking part this year were lawyers and support staff at SME Solicitors in Sansome Walk, Worcester, who were raising money for the Rory the Robot Appeal.

Ian Stirzaker, SME’s senior partner, said: “We are proud supporters of the Rory the Robot Appeal and have undertaken various fundraising initiatives throughout the year to support their work.

"And obviously we are all big supporters of Christmas as well!

Any chance to get festive with a cheesy Christmas jumper, and we’re joining in the fun – all for a great cause!”

The Rory the Robot Appeal is raising funds for a surgical robot for the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch for prostate cancer patients.

This method of surgery ensures a faster recovery time and reduced blood loss and will be a huge boost to the hospital’s already renowned, specialist urology cancer service.

The appeal was set up by a grateful patient and has already raised around £400,000 over the last three years.
