A ROAD in Malvern Link could be closed for up to three days after a water pipe burst.

Lower Howsell Road is closed between its junctions with Church Road and Worcester Road is closed after the water pipe in burst.

Firefighters are on site and sandbags have been issued to protect homes.

A Severn Trent spokesman said: "One of our pipes has burst in Malvern and has caused some flooding in the surrounding area.

"We're so sorry for this - we have both our customer liaison teams and our insurance teams on the way to speak to anyone affected.

"All customers currently have their water supply on and we're happy to say that we don't expect that to change any time soon.

"However, if that were to change, we would get in touch with those customers who may be affected directly.

"We have lots of people either on site right now or on their way to site to get the pipe fixed and everything back to normal as soon as possible.

"Our priority is always to secure water supplies for our customers so that they can use their water as normal, and to do this we'll be bringing water into the area in tankers and via our network of pipes.

"Once that's done, we'll concentrate on the pipe repair and putting the road back to normal.  This may take us a few days as it's one of our big pipes, and there has been a fair bit of damage to the road and footpath."

We will update you with more information when we receive it.
