A SELF-described "silver-surfer" is broadcasting her own Christian radio show.

Eve Robertson, of Knightwick, launched her show on Longside Radio, a not-for-profit community station in Martley, near Worcester, five weeks ago.

In one of her first shows, she played Praise You by Fat Boy Slim, due to its appropriate lyrics.

The 68-year-old's show Praise In Song is broadcast on Sunday mornings between 8 and 9am aims to praise God as well as loved ones, with appropriate Christian songs as well as mainstream hits.

"The only keyboard I normally use is one on a manual typewriter," she said.

"It is going quite smoothly - my daughter has watched me on air a few times.

"It is just me on my own.

"In future I might interview people, especially people who want to give praise, because that is what my show is about Christians praising God.

"I also recognise that there are other faiths.

"I believe in God and Christ, and it is so important to give praise. I want people to enjoy it and I want to make them feel bright and happy on Sunday morning.

"I will be playing Christmas songs at Christmas time. I also play songs about partners."

Ms Robertson, who works as a steward at Worcester Warriors Rugby Club, was inspired to start her own show, after hearing about the station from presenter Craig Dean in Marley Post Office.

"I liked the idea of playing music. He said if I had any ideas for a show I should get in touch."

Previously Ms Robertson said she had been a presenter in 1993 at European Grand Prix at Donnington Park, in Castle Donington, near Derby.

She said: "Years ago I was asked to work on the newsdesk at Donnington Park Grand Prix - reading the news- I really enjoyed doing it."
