PUPILS at Broadwas CE VA Primary School put on a community pop concert at St. Mary Magdalene Church in Broadwas, as part of their ‘Understanding Christianity’ theme week.

Working with the iSingPOP school music project and the local church the children have recorded their own album, learning and performing songs underpinned by the school’s Christian values.

Alex Gromski, headteacher, said: “The concerts were a huge success and have given the children an experience they will never forget.

"We are so proud of our children who became pop stars for a day. It was a privilege to be part of such a wonderful community event.

“The children’s artwork transformed the church and reflected the depth of learning in each class. The children had an exciting week exploring different aspects of Christianity at school.”

Alongside putting on a community pop concert the children had also worked with two local artists, Zoe Lewis a fabric artist from Z Crafts and Jon Williams a ceramic artist form Eastnor Pottery.

The children completed a felting project based upon the creation story and explored Christian symbols in clay, to produce individual tiles for a large scale cross to decorate the front of the school.
