STUDENTS across the Cotswolds have received their A-level grades.

The Cotswold School saw 41 percent of all A-level grades awarded at A* or A and 66 percent of all grades a B or above.

The proportion of grades at A* to C is an impressive 90 percent.

Twenty-one of the 114 Cotswold School students achieved three or more A*s or As.

Further highlights include one student receiving 5 A*s, one student receiving 4 A*s and three students receiving 3 A*s.

Will Morgan, principal said: "I am absolutely delighted to see the further increase in A* grades achieved at The Cotswold School.

"It’s a phenomenal result that 20 percent of all grades are at A* and a testament to the standards set by all those involved in these results.

"I am extremely proud of the staff and the students who have made this another record year for our school.

"We are now delighted for these students and their families as these results will open some very exciting doors now and in the future.”

Five students are heading to Oxbridge and around half of all students will further their studies at Russell Group Universities.

Alex Barter scored an unprecedented 597/600 in his A* mathematics, with two further A*s in

further mathematics and physics, to add to his accolade of winning the National Cipher Challenge, a highly-regarded competition run annually by the University of Southampton.

He will now study mathematics at Warwick University.

Kyla Bentinck-Hinton will study biochemistry at Brasenose at Oxford University, following her A*results in chemistry and biology and her A results in Spanish and in mathematics.

Students at Chipping Norton School received a 24 percent of A and A* results whilst 54 percent of pupils got A* to B grades and 99 percent of entries A* to E.

Headteacher Simon Duffy said: “I am delighted that our A-level students have done so well again this year. Such achievement doesn’t happen by chance and is indicative of the dedication and commitment of both students and staff.

"We are also really pleased that students at Chipping Norton School have bucked the national trend and that boys and girls have obtained equally strong results."

At Chipping Campden School Sixth Form, 22 percent of A-level grades were A* or A, half at A* - B and 80 percent at A* to C.

Henry Oughton achieved the coveted A* grades in Physics and Sports Science, along with an A grade in Maths.

While Will Packer, Natasha Allen, Phoebe Peters, Tom Chapman, Daisy Blyth, Lydia Dean, Connor Moore and Matthew Webb were just some of the Chipping Campden students celebrating having achieved a raft of A* and A grades.

Such strong results have ensured that the school’s top performers are able to take up their places at their first choice Russell Group universities.

The school’s principal, John Sanderson, said: “I am extremely proud of all that our students have achieved this year. They have worked extremely hard and clearly thrived in such a stimulating and vibrant environment.

"I’m pleased that so many now have the qualifications and skills they need to go on to the next stage of their learning.”

He also praised the dedication and commitment of staff and the support given by parents as he emphasised their contributions in ensuring so many students successfully negotiate these very demanding qualifications.

Once again Bredon School in Bushley saw 53.3 percent of students gaining an A*- B grade and 100 percent receiving results between A* and E.

Koen Claeys, headteacher said: “We are very proud of all of our pupils, they have done so well.

"I would like to thank all of our teaching staff for their dedication in helping students achieve the best results they can.

"Looking at A level and BTEC results overall, subjects with standout performances are in photography, art, craft and design, foreign languages and science.

"Bredon has a very broad curriculum offering traditional academic and vocational study options for all.”
