WHEN Alf Jenkins published a book entitled, “From Clee to Eternity” about the industrial, social history and dialect of the Titterstone Clee Hills a couple of years ago, to set the scene and experiences of life on the hills he included the first chapter about his and his sister Marina's childhood to help illustrate their home life and living conditions of the era.

"In 1938 my mother took a photograph with a Brownie Box camera of my sister and me sitting with two playmates, Derek and Brian Bytheway, in the hayfield," said Alf.

"Three of us live locally and occasionally see each other, separately, but at a recent Clee Hill funeral imagine our delight and disbelief for all four of us to meet together after 78 years because childhood friend Brian was home from South Africa.

"We were thrilled cameras were on hand to record this re-union. Can anyone anywhere beat this 78-year record?"

Do any of our readers recognise Alf Jenkins, Marina Clent, Derek and Brian Bytheway?
