EXCITEMENT is growing ahead of this year’s Warndon Villages Summer Fete.

Lyppard Hub, in Ankerage Green, will be hosting the fun-filled family event on Sunday, July 9 with support from Warndon Parish Council, Tesco Warndon and the Lyppard Grange Pub.

The fete will kick off at noon with some exciting Samba beats from percussion group, Glamba, who recently appeared on CBeebies favourite ‘Justin’s House’.

As well as performing their unique blend of Brazilian and African rhythms to get everyone in the party mood, they will be holding drumming workshops throughout the event.

Family-friendly activities will include pony rides, traditional fairground rides, inflatables, bungee trampolines, face painting, a circus workshop and a soft play double decker bus, while the more adventurous can experience the thrill of a seven-metre climbing wall and test their balance skills on a surfboard simulator.

As ever there will also be plenty of stalls to browse and refreshments, including a barbecue, to enjoy.

Visitors will be able to discover more about local charities and organisations, meet the Army Cadets and experience the inside of police, fire and ambulance vehicles.

Four-legged family members can get in on the action with a fun dog show.

Starting at 2pm, there will be six classes and entries cost £1.

Entry forms can be picked up from reception at Lyppard Hub at the closing date for entries is Sunday, July 2.

The new Lyppard Grange Nursery, which opens its doors at Lyppard Hub in the autumn, will be holding an open day during the event for parents to pop in and meet the staff and take a look around.

Lyppard Hub deputy manager, Maxine Roberts, said “We are so excited! Every year the summer fete just gets bigger and better.

"There is something for everyone to take part in and enjoy and the event also gives the groups that use the centre the opportunity to showcase their talents.

"It is all about people coming together and celebrating being the heart of the community”

The event finishes at 4pm but the fun will continue into the evening with the Lyppard Grange pub’s garden party.
