THE head of Broadway First School has welcomed the school's latest report from education watchdog Ofsted.

The school, in Lime Tree Avenue, was inspected in December and rated Good in all major areas.

The report praises the head, leaders and governors of the school for the improvements they have made since the last Ofsted inspection in 2014.

And the pupils are praised for their personal development and behaviour, with the report describing them as "kind, friendly and respectful to others".

Their "spiritual, moral and social development" is also described as good, but the report says the school should expand the opportunities por pupils to learn about the wide range of cultures in modern Britain.

The report also says the school should consistently provide more challenging work across the curriculum, and give pupils more opportunities to apply their maths and writing skills.

Head Dr Tessa Browning said: "We’re particularly pleased that they noted the supportive, caring environment, with strong welfare and safety. We’re proud that they highlighted the good manners and the confident welcome that the children give the visitors. Most importantly, however, we’re delighted how they recognised the quality of the teaching and the children’s good progress during their time here.

"Of course, we are always looking to improve our school and will continue to work on the areas suggested by Ofsted, which are already priorities in our school."
