A KIDDERMINSTER media production company have been sponsored by a local carpet manufacturer to produce a short festival film set against the backdrop of the Wyre Forest's carpet industry.

Bond Worth have sponsored the Community Broadcast Company to produce the 'Tapestry' film.

Coralie Hudson, producer, said: "We are thrilled to have Bond Worth on board with our project and it is fantastic to receive such wonderful news in the run up to Christmas.

"Over the last few months we have spent much time researching the local industry and have received some fabulous support and so much interest.

"The greatest delight for me, is seeing people's faces light up when they talk about the industry's heyday in the 1960s.

"We really hope we can do this justice through our film."

Mark Oakes, Bond Worth's managing director, added: "We are thrilled to be sponsoring such a worthwhile and engaging project which our industry so desperately needs and which will make such a difference for our local community.

"Now is the time to shout about what the carpet industry is, has and could potentially do for the future."

The Community Broadcast Company is preparing their bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund but is also looking for further sponsorship as receipt of this grant is reliant on match funding. They hope to produce the short film to conserve the heritage of the carpet industry - an important part of residents' local heritage within Wyre Forest.
