A DIWALI Family Fun Day will be held at Bromsgrove's Artrix next month, with performances from Indian dancers, musicians and traditional food.

The event, on October 23, will mark the festival of light, celebrated annually by Hindus, Sikhs, Jains and Buddhists across the world.

Visitors can enjoy a range of interactive stalls, provided by members of Bromsgrove's Indian Community Forum, as well as themed crafts and Indian snacks.

B K Chaudhari, from the Bromsgrove Forum, said: "We are delighted to celebrate Diwali this year in partnership with both Bromsgrove Council and the Artrix and having the professional support of the local Arts Centre. This will help us to achieve our aims to reach out to the wider community in the district.

"Diwali is a festival of victory of good over evil, light over darkness and knowledge over ignorance. The basic ethics are that the world is a family. It promotes tolerance and amiability and togetherness and helps in breaking down barriers. Holding this event as part of a multicultural event at the Artrix fully supports the aim of getting diverse audiences together in Bromsgrove. Everyone is invited to drop in and enjoy the celebrations."

The event will start in the Artrix foyer from 10.30am to 3pm.

A showing of Roald Dahl's The BFG will be screening at 2pm.
