STOURBRIDGE is set to get a supersized McDonald’s later this year after work on a new two-storey branch begun.

The fast-food giants have confirmed that the land currently being developed on the corner of St John’s Road and Birmingham Street will be home to the town’s newest eatery.

However, the company has only confirmed that the new branch will be two-stories, with no news – as of yet – to whether the new Stourbridge development would include a drive-thru.

A spokeswoman for McDonald’s told the News: “We can confirm that the land is being used for a new store which will be a two storey branch.

“Work has started on the branch and we expect it to be open by the end of the year.”

McDonald’s closed its High Street outlet in 2008, claiming a change in trading patterns meant it was no longer suitable for the town.

But the popular burger chain has had a change of heart and will return to Stourbridge after an eight year absence.
