FOUR people have been arrested after they prepared to fly contraband into HM Prison Hewell with a drone.

Police stopped a van that had been spotted driving along Brockhill Lane in Tardebigge, close to the perimeter wall of the prison, at around 4.10pm on Sunday, July 24.

Officers searched the van and found a quantity of substances of suspected class A and class B drugs, as well as a drone and associated remote control.

Four people were taken into police custody on suspicion of conspiring to bring/throw/convey list A prohibited articles into/out of a prison.

A 36-year-old man from Tipton, a 41-year-old woman from Walsall, a 34-year-old man from Tipton and a 45-year-old man from Walsall have been arrested on suspicion of possession of controlled class A and B drugs with intent to supply.

All have been bailed until August 29.
